I am here to learn something. I have heard waterfowl folks saying ducklings should be given non-medicated feed and not the medicated feed. Why is it so? By any chance, if I overlook (may be the feed cover doesn't have any medicated/non-medicated sign on it) and feed the baby ducks with medicated feed, how will it affect the baby ducklings? Any help on this matter would be highly appreciated.

Because some of the Anti-coccidioss medication used in chick starter can kill baby ducks  I'm not sure what the mechanism for toxisity is, but it's just not a good idea ..because you don't know how much they'll eat etc you don't know if they'll get too  much and get sick from it.

Okay, now I know that ducklings should not be given medicated feed because they can kill baby ducks.... What about adult ducks? And when should we give them medicated feed? If you could shed light on this as well, it would be really appreciated.

the medication in the layer feed and grower feed is basically more for things that chickens get rather than waterfowl or ducks.  I don't think it would hurt them , but it's an unnecessary medication that they don't need.  i always use non-medicated feed
