It all depends on what you want them for! eggs, meat, pets?  If you let me know that I can help you better. You can also check out BackYardChickens.com

Good Luck

From my experience, I think one of the nicest and friendliest are the Silkies but there are many other breeds that are quite friendly also. Check out My Pet Chicken, I don't remember their website but you can google it.  My silkies follow me all over and I have one that even goes for rides and grocery shopping with me!  Of course, I put a diaper on her when she "Goes Out"!

Wow.. Great suggestion to have silkies. They are so cute, soft & fluffy. Getting diapers for them and keeping them inside would be great idea!!! But I have not yet used diapers for chicks. Is it the same as how we diaper our babies? And as the chicks grow up, I need to buy new ones or do I get adjustable ones!?

I got mine from AvianFashions.com    I do remember seeing instructions on how to make them but I don't remember where.  I wouldn't keep them indoors all the time, they should be out most of the day to scratch for food, look/eats bugs & grass, etc. Just what chickens do!  Please do let me know how you make out.
