| I have an unused wading pool. So I was thinking of letting my pair of call ducks have it. My question is how often should I change the water since it is a small wading pool. Should I put any kind of feeder fish, plants etc for these ducks to enjoy the pool? |

| it really depends on how dirty the water gets, but i'd say change it about once a week..adding to it as the water evaporates thru out the week. As far as fish, i wouldn't because they'll just dirty the water..if you wnat the ducks to have treats in the water to forage for try throwing some meal worms down on occassion..chop up some spinish and toss it in..any leafy grean. cook up a sweet potato and chop it and throw it out for them (when it's cooled of course) sometimes i chop up a boiled egg shell and all for them. My fish are in the lake and they do eat minnows ..but they like to upend to do that..and if your pool isn't deep enough ...and with out a filter or something so keep the water moving the fish would probably just die and then the water will be disgusting. That's my though..others might be able to lend more to that portion of the thread..i've just never put live fish in a wading pool..but then it's probably not much different than putting them in a fish bowl. I know i throw fish food in the lake for the fish and the ducks love it..they run right out to it..course i also throw duck food as well. |

Hello.... I let my calls have the pool and water got dirty too much that I cleaned the pool today... When i emptied the pool, I was surprised to see eggs there. Will these eggs be fertile? I have no idea how long these eggs have been in the water. How do I stop my call ducks from laying eggs in the water without hurting them? |

| they may be fertile. My ducks leave eggs in the lake all the time, i fish them out and put them in the incubator and most of the time..they are good fertill eggs that hatch. The eggs are probably still good..unless its very cold. My lake was pretty cold..probably 50 or 60 degrees and my eggs still hatched. I don't know how to stop them from laying the eggs where ever they want..maybe someone else knows a deterrant, but my ducks seem to just be swimming around and drop an egg. |

| Thanks a bunch shicks0211... As long as the eggs remain fertile, I think I shouldn't worry....!! I would be cleaning the pool twice every week which means the eggs would remain in the pool utmost 2-3 days. |

| oh..2 or 3 days..they'd actually probably still be ok..eggs can be fine for several days..iven more than a week before you incubate them. |
