emales appear with a reddish crest, brownish body, tail, eyes and wings blackish brown. Both males and females have an indented beak that is slightly hooked at the tip. They diet on small fish, crayfish, insects, tadpoles, frogs, clams and other crustaceans. Female lays 6-12 eggs and incubation period is from 26-41 days. |
